To complement the many Victorian themed events held in Victorian Oamaru, the Oamaru Whitestone Civic Trust has a Victorian Wardrobe, where replica Victorian costumes can be hired.
From modest beginnings, the Wardrobe grew rapidly and now has possibly the largest and finest collection of Victorian styled clothing anywhere in New Zealand. The collection includes garments in all sizes and for all occasions, as well as all the necessary accessories to complete the ‘look’.

The Victorian Wardrobe can be found at 4b Harbour Street and is open on Thursdays 10.00 am – 4.00 pm, and at other times by appointment.
Items can be hired for a week and charges are very reasonable. The Wardrobe is staffed by volunteers who have made many of the costumes that are available for hire. Extra help is always welcomed at the Wardrobe and sewing skills are not absolutely necessary. If you would like to know more, contact the Trust at owct@xtra.co.nz
